Applications for the SFU-UBC Implementation Science Initiative closed on Dec 15, 2024.
Applicants must upload three documents as part of this application: a statement of interest and concept paper; an abbreviated CV; and a letter of support. Please review these document guidelines and file upload requirements before proceeding with the application form below.
Document 1: Statement of interest and concept paper
Document requirements
- Length: Maximum 2.5 pages, single-spaced, size 11 font, 1-inch margins.
- Submission Format: Upload as a PDF, DOC, or DOCX (64 MB limit).
Statement of Interest (.5 page)
- Describe your interest in the SFU-UBC Implementation Science Training program, focusing on your long-term career goals and how participation in the program will advance your career trajectory.
- What opportunities will you have to provide mentorship of trainees and colleagues in implementation science?
- Please indicate how much time you have/can commit to your project and this training program (including two in-person intensives, quarterly webinars and monthly mentor meetings?
Concept paper (2 pages)
- Implementation Focus:
- What are your IS research question(s)?
- What specific practice, policy, or innovation do you aim to study the implementation of during the training program? Provide a clear rationale for its selection, including any relevant background or context.
- What type of implementation strategy or approach do you plan to use? Include any theory, framework, or models you envision guiding your implementation science approach.
- Research Methods:
- What type of research method do you envision to assess the success or challenges of your implementation strategy? What types of research methods will you use to answer your IS research questions?
- Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Considerations:
- Discuss how EDI principles will be incorporated into your project. How will your project ensure inclusivity, address systemic inequities, or engage underrepresented communities? Describe how EDI considerations are embedded in both your research design and implementation plans.
Document 2: Abbreviated CV
Document requirements
- Length: Maximum 5 pages
- Submission Format: Upload as a PDF, DOC, or DOCX (64 MB limit).
Highlight recent experience that is relevant to the work you aim to develop during the institute. Your abbreviated CV should include:
- Focus on research, publications, presentations, or activities that are relevant to your proposed implementation science project.
- Highlight any experience in capacity building, mentoring, or leadership that aligns with the goals of the training program. Consider how your contributions have supported the development of others in your field or community.
- Include any prior experience or contributions in EDI, especially in relation to research, mentoring, or community engagement.
Document 3: Letter of support
Document requirements
- Submission Format: Upload as a PDF, DOC, or DOCX (64 MB limit).
Please submit a letter of support from your department Dean or Director, indicating their support for your participation in the training initiative.
