Frequently Asked Kx Resource Guide Questions

How do we define knowledge exchange?

We broadly define knowledge exchange as research and related activities with social, political, environmental, economic, or cultural impacts. These impacts may occur through public dialogues, policymaking, professional practice or cultural spheres. Knowledge exchange includes community-based research, partnership development, public scholarship and communication practices.

We consider terms such as knowledge mobilization and knowledge translation to be interchangeable with knowledge exchange.

What units are included in the tool?

The tool includes units across all the UBC campuses (Vancouver and Okanagan) and affiliated hospitals. Units may be centralized and serve a very wide range of groups, or units may be housed within faculties or departments and only serve people affiliated with that faculty or department.

What resources are included in the tool?

Resources in the tool are categorized using the search filter terms and support a variety of knowledge exchange activities and practices at UBC. Units have been advised to include resources that are offered continuously (e.g., templates available to download online); upon request (e.g., consultations); or on a recurring basis (e.g., annual calls for funding proposals).
