Designing for Dissemination
November 30, 2022, 9:00 am to 12:00 pm
Please note: this in-person workshop is by invite and intended for Research Cluster members only.
Dissemination is an active approach to spreading evidence-based information and interventions to a target audience via determined channels using planned strategies. An effective dissemination plan must include the why (your purpose for dissemination), what (the message to be disseminated), to whom (the audiences that you intend to use the knowledge you produce), how (the form that your dissemination will take) and when (the timing of your dissemination).
The workshop will focus on how to effectively use social media platforms for evidence-based knowledge dissemination. Starting off with a broader look into dissemination planning, the larger part of the workshop will focus on discussing and applying strategies to create effective knowledge assets for social media.
Topics will include:
• Visual assets and branding
• Plain language and accessibility
• Tone and voice
• Metrics and algorithms
• Influencers and collaborators
• Bullies and trolls
• The “Do”s and “Don’t”s of social media
By the end of the workshop, participants will have:
• An understanding of best practices of designing for social media
• A draft dissemination plan
• Social media assets for at least two platforms (including tools to create your own digital content)
• The will power to take on social media for research dissemination
